Event Description
InfoSocial 2012, the first annual conference sponsored by Northwestern University’s Media, Technology, and Society program, brought together 133 graduate students from across the nation representing a wide variety of academic disciplines. The two-day inaugural conference consisted of six symposia and an hour-and-a-half long poster session, addressing topics such as privacy and information management, health communication, history of information technologies, collective action and crowdsourcing, and others. Lively conversation continued long after the final panel at Prairie Moon Restaurant during the conference’s complimentary closing reception and dinner. We are also grateful for the gracious involvement of our keynote speaker, Ronald Burt, six faculty panel discussants, Zizi Papacharissi, Catalina Toma, Christena Nippert-Eng, Amy Gonzales, Kevin G.
